The Scratch LIVE USB interface connects one or two standard vinyl or CD turntables to your computer. This extremely rugged, portable, high quality, bus-powered USB interface features two switchable phono or line inputs, a microphone input, two line outputs, and pass thru outputs for the phono/line and mic.
The included 12" vinyl records each have a Serato exclusive and unique control signal which allows Scratch LIVE to track the motion of the record, simulating the same movement with digital audio. Due to Serato's proprietary control scheme, the result is a feel and sound indistinguishable from playing vinyl. As a producer and DJ, the track you finished today can be played on a real turntable tonight. You'll never have to cut a dubplate again!

The Scratch LIVE interface connects almost any computer to an ordinary pair of turntables or CD players, and the software faithfully tracks every subtle movement of the stylus on the included control records. The same movement is then instantly applied to any digital audio file in the user's collection producing a sound and feel that is indistinguishable from vinyl.
Manufactured and distributed by Rane, the Scratch LIVE package includes an extremely rugged, portable, high quality, bus-powered USB audio device, featuring two software switchable stereo phono or line inputs, a microphone input, two line outputs and pass thrus for all inputs.
Running natively on Windows XP and Mac OS X, the software has all the features of a modern DJ player, including beat extraction, real time tempo metering, waveform coloring based on spectral content, multiple cue points per track, and full iTunes library integration. Tailored for performance work, tracks are rapidly located via full text search of ID3 tags, or even recorded directly from a microphone, and assigned to turntable control with a single key press.

How does it work?
Special vinyl included with Serato Scratch contains a control signal that allows your computer to track the motion of the record, simulating the same movement within the digital sample.
But what is it like to use?
Serato Scratch LIVE feels and sounds just as though you are scratching and cueing an ordinary record.
What is the latency?
The total system latency can be as low as 7ms if your computer is fast enough to cope with the increased load on the processor. You can adjust the latency of Scratch LIVE in software to cater to the system you have.
What happens if I pick up the needle and drop it somewhere on the record?
Scratch LIVE not only tracks the relative movement of the record when the needle is in the groove, but also can detect exactly where the needle is placed on the record. So when you drop the needle, the song you are playing instantly jumps to a new part of the song.
